Beautiful Town but Not the Best for Young Adults - 1/23/2020
My fiance and I moved here in 2018 shortly after finishing college. I work in Colorado Springs and she works in the Denver area, so Castle Rock was practically our only option. The town is absolutely stunning! I never get tired of seeing the sun set over the mountains, and getting around is much less stressful than it would be in metro Denver. The climate is just about perfect if you are looking for four distinct seasons. However, my fiance has started to get pretty severe nose bleeds due to the dry air. Castle Rock is definitely a family town. We hardly see any other people who look to be our age. I am always blown away when we go up to Denver at how many young people I see there; I am just not used to it anymore. Castle Rock has virtually zero nightlife; almost all of the restaurants, breweries, and bars close very early. The Unforgettable Sunset - 4/26/2018
I have always been mobile for my career, until I moved to Castle Rock. I've lived in in multiple cities in the Midwest including Chicago and have visited nearly every metro area in the US for work. Many of those areas were forgettable, but I still remember my first visit to Castle Rock in 2010 when I took a picture of the stunning orange/red mountain sunset from the Lowe's parking lot. That framed picture hung in my home in Oklahoma and it has now hung in my Castle Rock home for over 5 years. The only difference is now I get to enjoy this alluring landscape daily:)

I still travel extensively and have yet to visit a place that would entice me to move, including Southern California, Pacific Northwest, Etc. These places are great to vacation, which is easy to do from DIA, but livability is much lower IMHO.

The schools options here are stellar. My young daughter loves her daily life here including her school and the parks.

My husband and I are thinking of moving to Castle Rock, CO, from Lincoln, Nebraska. We can relocate with our current jobs, between the both of us we earn about 90K annually. Is this a good enough wage to live in Colorado? Of course in time, we will get a cost of living increase but who knows really what percentage that will be. Any advice would be helpful. Denver is Awesome! - 8/17/2012
My uncle that lives in Castle Rock wanted me to visit him for years. I put it off thinking "oh well, it's only Denver" (who cares). August 5th 2012 I finally went to visit him. The airport was amazing. But the drive home from the Airport was ok. But that's when my story starts. We arrived at his home and I was amazed at the view of the mountains, amazed with the weather. In the middle of summer there is no humidity and the best part - no bugs like we have in Chicago. Long story short, we called a realtor and I am now buying a vacation home in that area. We've lived in Castle Rock for 4 years. We moved here from Redondo Beach, CA. Be prepared for some adjustment when making that big of an altitude change, but it's not that bad. The dryness is also something to be reckoned with, especially if you're used to a lot of moisture. But now it's actually difficult to go back to the ocean -- just feel sticky all the time. Castle Rock is a beautiful place to live but it's growing very fast. Population has doubled since 2000 (according to Sperling data). The roads are not bad, as mentioned by a 2007 review on Sperling, unless you're not a good driver. Winter can be tricky. The I25 has been undergoing improvements here in Castle Rock, with an effort to keep up with the population growth, etc. The cost of living is getting high, however. If you're thinking of moving here, or anywhere between Denver and Colorado Springs, be sure you understand what an HOA is, because most of the housing is HOA.
