Truth from a native - 7/7/2021
I was born and raised in Highlands Ranch and I know what you’re thinking. “This is a rich girl.” I am not. My parents moved here before it became rich and boujie and the people who live here can be rude and full of it but we aren’t all like that. When you find your people you will love it. Know that if you move into $1.5 million home you are moving in with the people consider rude, spoiled and snobby. So consider that. But there are plenty of people who worked hard to get where they are and they do not deserve to be called rude or inconsiderate.  Read More

If you're single AVOID AVOID AVOID - 6/28/2018
Worked in the DTC and HR was an easy commute. The people are yuppy- scum-snobs, who do not thank you for holding the door open for their 3+ children, noses held high in the air, misbehaved children who create havoc in the neighborhood with door bell ditching and car vandalism. Absolutely hated my life experiences here.

If you're a breeder with lots of kids, this is your place. If you're single and not wanting to die of boredom in yuppy hell, Read More

Affluent Community - 12/10/2014
When we moved here from Denver, about 2.5 yrs ago, I did note the affluence, lack of diversity (compared to Denver) and seeming Stepford Wives phenomenon. It is all about affluence. The cost of living is higher and people here seem to have money. There are HOAs, homeowners and community. A portion of the community HOA is to keep the four rec centers going, which are nice, but you still pay if you don't use them. You also have to pay for any classes you take at them. The community is very clean and well kept. We cannot afford to retire here. So between that and the intense sun and heat, from June through Sept., we will be moving on. We don't go to the Farmers Market or other events at the town center because it's just too hot. The weather is actually very warm here for about 6 mos out of the year on cloudless days, which is most of the time. If you like dry heat and lots of sun, you'll love it here, but bring plenty of money. The views of the mountains are nice. There is quite a Read More

Highlands Ranch from a Resident's Viewpoint - 7/23/2014
Cannot not believe all of the negative comments from people who are not residents. We have been here about 18 months. It is a planned community that is about 35 years old. Has wide streets and pretty good traffic flow but does get clogged briefly during peak travel times. Shopping and services are very good conveniently located. The community has four recreation centers that are popular (crowded at time) but set up very nice for young children especially the pool at Eastridge. We have found the community to be very friendly with more activities offered than we can take advantage of at the present time. The area has exceeded our expectations.

The only negative at the moment is the Douglas County school district which is in great turmoil at the moment. So if you have school age children this may not be the community for you with regard to the public schools. And it couple several years before everything settles down.  Read More

Steadily moving left... - 3/23/2014
Great influx of left leaning population from both west and east coasts. This is greatly moving the politics in this once middle/swing state to solidly liberal. Climate is good but cost of living is increasing. If you like rising taxes and cost of living this is for Read More

Racism does exists - 3/9/2011
Racism does exists here. If you are a minority and don't see it, you must be blind. People move here to get away from diversity. They don't want to see a neighbor who does not look like them. (blonde. blue eyes) you get the picture. In fact, I think that Highlands Ranch and the surrounding Littleton is very racist. If you are thinking about moving to colorado, look at denver. Much more diverse and people can appreciate Read More

hghlands ranch living in the bubble - 2/18/2011
I work at one of the elementary schools in highlands ranch, I do live close to denver.. I like working here it is a good climate and kids are very polite but the only thing they lack in my opinion is diversity ..although many live here because of that ...which is fine but some of their stereotypes such as denver has a high crime rate etc. is not always true my house which I have lived in for twenty years has never been broken into...Many of the residents will order their food out in the so called dangerous neighborhoods, again I never have had a problem with dining in them.. They would not dream about going to five points I am a white male and walk around that area calmly...Many times these stereotypes are simply not true..I think many of the residents are scared of other nationalities which to me is not healthy..I hope they can accept and learn to accept others that live in this world . Colorado is made up of a lot of different people...there is good in many different types..we can Read More
