Avoid unless you want Covid exposure - 10/11/2021
I have been here 7 years and until Covid hit, I thought is was okay despite a large number of Confederate flags. Covid brought the worst in people. I have been threatened in stores and parking lots for wearing a mask, both pre- and post-vaccine. One person made sure I knew he was armed. I am a heart patient would like to continue to live. People here associate mask wearing with being a liberal. Our vaccination rate is very low and it is clear that people don’t respect science. My wife and I are moving as soon as possible to a town where more educated people

The Muslims just build their place of worship here and many Christians have their churches.
Why not start your own place for Jews.
As it is now, they all go to Gainesville or Jacksonville to worship.

I have lived all over the country from Missouri, Pennsylvania, and have finally found my niche here in Lake City, Florida. I love it here, and with
the church I attend, First Full Gospel Church,I feel as though I have gone
back in time. The people are full of love and trust.The worship is old time
religion with dinners on the grounds and families caring for others times of need. They helped me through some tough cancer years and I know this is where God's love flows freely. I am trying now to write a small book about the generations of these humble christians and their magnificent faith that goes back generations. The area used to be called Watertown. I'd love to hear from anyone who has any history on the area or the people.

Lake City has a wonderful small town feel. People smile, say hello and generally are very nice. It's very "country" and down home like, but it's also a growing commercial area and new businesses are always welcome. Lake City is 45 minutes from Gainesville (home of the University of Florida) and 45 minutes from Jacksonville.
