New Port Richey - 7/7/2010
If you are looking for low cost housing, low cost property taxes, and low cost insurance then New Port Richey may be a consideration. Everything you need: restaurants, shopping plazas, grocery stores, Walmarts, etc. are all in close proximity.
However there are a few down falls. For one, there are a lot of sinkholes. The further away from the Gulf you get, the deeper the sink holes get. However the further from the water you get, the more your homeowner's insurance decreases.
If you are in search of a spouse, you should consider finding one before you move here. There is not much of a market and what is in the market isn't much. If you are planning to bring children or have children here, you will want to invest in private schools. The education system is not exactly the best, especially for middle and high school.
This area would probably be best if you are in your retirement years. There is plenty of low cost housing, medical specialty facilites, and activities.

Climate - 8/6/2008
The climate in New Port Richey is ideal for those that love warm weather. During the winter months the weather becomes a bit chilly, but sweaters and light jackets are all that one needs.
The beaches are very accessible, and the water is always warm. Those that like to fish can have a party here. There are also many water sports to indulge in, if that's your way of having fun. Many people have their own boats in their back yards which are

New Port Richey - Great Place to Live, Work and So - 5/5/2007
New Port Richey and the Trinity area have been experiencing tremendous growth with the positives of new businesses, schools, homes and jobs and have managed traffic and services to keep up with the increased demand. We have bigger and better libraries, hospitals and resturants and activities for all ages. After looking at relocating to Tennessee, I decided I'm much better off

I have lived in NPR, FL since 1978 and I am here to tell you that if you come here, you're crazy. First of all the Insurance Rates in Florida are Out of control. People are paying $3000-$5000/year for Homeowners alone on a $250,000 home. Not to mention the price if homes is rediculuous, and the are is not very nice for the most part. A small 900sqft box is around $150,000. You can make you own decision, but take it from someone who's trying to get out of

New Port Richey Not the Place to Live - 12/29/2006
I have lived in New Port Richey all my life. (42 years) It used to be beautiful; citrus trees, palm trees, beaches and wonderful gulf breezes. People were friendly and children were safe to play outside. Thanks to development, trees are a thing of the past and you can only get to the beaches in a couple designated areas. Same with the lakes; they've all been built around. Traffic is awful because no planning was put into the road systems. You don't let your kids out of your site because most neighborhoods have registered child offenders living in them. Property insurance is unbelievable. Four years ago I paid 560.00 for 175,000 worth of coverage on my house. Last year it was 3800.00 and has been approved for a 50% increase this year. Insurance rates have gone crazy because of the recent hurricanes. New Port Richey is going to redo their flood zones, too. We've lived in our house for over 20 years and it's never had water standing, but we've been told with the new zones we'll be

Great Place to Live - 6/3/2006
Weather from October through May is fantastic. Humidity rolls in in June and lasts through the better part of September. Not much different than the rest of the country. NPR is very convenient to what makes living in FL great. Many great beaches within half hour drive. Close enough to Orlando to make a day trip with ease. Gulf breeze keeps temp and humidity comfortable except for the summer months. Any type of restaurant within a short drive. I moved here in 2001 from PA and have no

CRIME IN NEW PORT RICHEY, FL - 1/2/2006
I'm not sure where the information comes from for this town, I have lived here for the better part of 16 years and just in 2005 alone I can't keep track of the murders and other violent crime. The cost of housing has risen three fold in the last 5 years and my homeowners insurance has more than quadrupled in just one year.(150,000.00 policy costs $2600.00 per year now!!!!!) This should be listed as one of the worst places to
