Parkland life - 12/2/2014
I am only 18 years old, but I have lived here for 10 years, more than half of my life. I attended Riverglades Elementary, Westglades middle, and Marjory Stoneman Douglas high. All the rumors of the "snotty" people who live here are in fact true in many cases. But that is a small price to pay to be able to live in a safe area. There are beautiful homes. They are fun to look at. I live on a side street, but I take the golfcart to the ranches and to different side streets just to look at the beautiful homes. There is a nice trail for biking, jogging, ect right behind my street. Attending school in this city has been okay. I Deffinitely wouldn't say the people are great, I haven't made many connections with my fellow peers. I've had the same 5 best friends for years, most of whom I met in elementary and middle school. Lots of teenagers driving brand new luxury cars (myself included) But I wouldn't say the people are more rude than in other cities. There are rude and crazy people in every Read More

Parkland is the BEST! - 9/16/2014
Let's face it, South Florida has really gone downhill fast in the past 5-7 years. Maybe it was the economy crashing, maybe it was the influx of crazies and weirdos to the area, maybe it was a failing job market, maybe its all the self involved parents who dont properly teach their kids how to behave in society because they themselves dont know..etc. Even the once beautiful and safe Coral Springs is now such a ghetto. Coral Square mall is downright scary, even in the middle of the day. So many shady looking people and hoodlums running around. Lots of retirees and drug addicts in Coconut Creek, lots of rude, selfish snowbirds in Boca, lots of gang bangers in Coral Springs. What the heck is wrong with everyone? Where are the cops? the teachers? the priests? rabbis? and for God's sake the parents of all these hoodlums??

At least Parkland remains clean and safe so far. The high prices are worth the benefits of the community not standing for that crap of letting their city Read More

A Midwestern Family Moves to Parkland - 8/13/2014
Our family is from Chicago and we have been living here a year now. Our family settled in NE Parkland, which is considered the "older" section of town. I like it here! The library is a great resource. The city is pretty and well maintained. My location gives me great travel access to shops and surrounding communities and I am a 15 minute drive from the ocean. Snooty, superficial people? Sure, there are some, but who cares. The pros outweigh the cons by far! We send our kids to public schools and the quality of education is good, however my teens did experience more rude behavior here than in the Midwest. We choose to focus on church, family, and teaching our children that regardless of how others behave, they will be held to high standards.  Read More

Parkland people don't believe in common respect if - 7/5/2014
Lol u must not know to much about parkland because I work in parkland and yes it is very expensive. But you are wrong about the people. They are very rude. They don't know anything about respecting others because they feel like they don't have to respect anybody if they don't want to. If there having a bad day they like to disrespect people and think it's ok. I have worked all over Broward County and I have to tell you that this part of town (Parkland,Coral Springs,Coconut Creek) is the worst (as far as people) I would rather deal with people from plantation sunrise Tamarac ft lauderdale. Parkland has the type of people that when the police pull them over they say " what the hell did u pull me over for I didn't do anything wrong" like the cop is not doing his job. I seen a lady just the other day walking down the street with her a little five or six-year-old and her child was two blocks ahead of her and out of her sight so I told the lady you might want to watch your kid and not let Read More

I'm a true florida native! Not the newbies who hav - 12/7/2010
Parkland is a great place to live. The only setback is the cost of everything. Buying a house is extremely high over here. Even renting is pretty high too. Great schools and people. Read More

Not a nice place to live - 2/2/2008
Parkland is a very expensive place to live and the people for the most part are very unfriendly and in most cases very mean and rude. My wife was informed in a local store that b/c we are not Jewish we should leave the area. I observed and heard at another home improvemnt store a customer state to the cashier " If you break a leaf on that plant; you are in for a world of hurt". The cashier was attempting to carefully scan the bar code to ring up the plant. Most people always push themselves adhead of you and never appolgize for their rudeness. We would already have moved, but can not sell our home, b/c of the poor business climate. South Florida used to be a great place to live, but the crime, taxes and prices have destroyed the entire area. Our Property Taxes are over $19,000 per year and the house is only 3400 sq. feet. If you do not speak Spanish, do not to to Read More

Pleasure in Parkland - 5/8/2007
You should do a report on Parkland. It began as a beautiful horse/polo community and was considered "the boonies" from as close as Coral Springs until 2000. Due to the booming housing industry, it has been undergoing a sweeping change. Beautiful homes, golf courses, great schools, many family activities, new restaurants and a few strip malls are in process of being built to meet the needs of the area.

Being a well-planned development, it has stringent city ordinances (and only 2 street lights!. The community is highly desired because of its reputation.

Housing and cost of living is expensive here. Only the strong survive.  Read More
