This is where you go to unwind! Beaches, golf, etc - 6/30/2023
Been here since 2017 and have enjoyed it very much. This is not a 'Big City', so if you're looking for all the big city trappings move on. It's quiet. I have wonderful neighbors and we look after each other and our properties, but crime is low so I don't expect anything will ever happen near me. Don't sit in your house and expect the world to come to you. Make an effort.
PSL has a beautiful botanical garden. Fantastic if you like photography like me. A very nice public golf course, a staple for Florida living, and there's even a nice little Oak Hammock park. Great fishing. The inlet is nearby. You're on the Atlantic coast so the ocean is RIGHT HERE! 21 miles of it! Free parking except in the State Parks beaches. Plenty of clubs to join, Legion, Elks, Moose, etc.
If you miss the bustling rush of city life, go back. This is where you come to unwind, relax, and take up a hobby. I do photography, car tinkering (just got back from Hot Rod Power Tour 2023), I've Read More

Love Port St. Lucie - 1/3/2020
We have visited four times and love it so much that we purchased a home here, and move in two weeks! Lets see first the good things. Beautiful weather year around. Economy is growing and wages are on the rise. House prices are still on the reasonable side compared to other places in Florida. It is very diverse, and a great mix of cultures. The people are nice, and everyone is helpful. Palm trees in the front yard in stead of toothless hillbillies sitting around a bonfire in the front yard drinking Mountain Dew and watching their teeth fall out! Crime is very low, city is really clean, people drive crazy just the way I like it. Great food and shopping. Now the bad! No bums on every street corner for me to tell to get a job like in Knoxville, Tn. We will not have 5 months of cold dreary rainy gray days to cause seasonal depression. I will miss that! Read More

Money pit - 9/8/2019
Where do I begin. Been here for a few years now and just waiting to retire so I can concentrate on other places. Didn't take more than a year to figure this place out though. The city is $$$ hungry. Coming from a northern state I'm used to maintaining my home by learning to be my own handyman. After buying a typical neglected Florida home here (mistake) I attempted to do some repairs/replacements around the place. Spoke to a neighbor who was kind enough to help me with his pickup and he said "don't let the code enforcement catch you doing anything, they'll get right on you". I really didn't understand what he meant until I was going to buy a window for replacement from a contractor's leftovers. He said "don't let code enforcement see you, they're Vicious!". I've owned my homes ever since my mid 20's in the north and have never dealt with town storm troopers like this. Why even allow a Home Depot or Lowes in town if a homeowner can't even change his own hose faucet or toilet? Oh, it Read More

Run - 8/22/2018
There is no quality of life in Port St. Lucie. It is so overcrowded in this town it is busting at the seams. The traffic is horrendous and it takes forever to get anywhere. It is so stressful driving anywhere in this town because there are way too many cars filling up the roads and not enough room.

I know every city has auto accidents and reckless driver but this town has a MAJOR issue with speeders and reckless drivers. Too many people have been killed in this town in auto accidents as a result of drivers who think they're driving down the Autobahn. People LOVE to drive highway speeds not only around town but also down residential streets, so watch out for that and don't expect to see a lot of police activity. Who knows what they do all day because I rarely see anyone pulled over.

This town is not meant for the massive influx of people and that is why there are so many accidents on the roadways. Or maybe it's all of the shrubbery and palm trees obstructing Read More

Port st Lucie sucks!!! - 5/2/2018
Port st Lucie sucks!

There is literally nothing to do here. The only main attraction this place has is the boring PGA golf course and the stupid Mets stadium. Port st lucie seems like it was designed for old people 50 and above.

There is absolutely NOTHING here to stimulate the mind and nothing to look at. If you want to go out for a walk and enjoy the "Scenery" good luck because there is no scenery, just houses.

Nobody is ever outside, so if you like to be social, forget about it because there are no social gatherings and if there is, then its for old people and I don't want to hang around old people. (I'm only 30 yrs old)

This "city" is so depressing its ridiculous. Port st Lucie is so pathetic that it doesn't even have a downtown lol I absolutely regret moving here and for anyone thats gonna comment the usual "Then pack up and leave" don't worry I will leave.

There is not a single thing good I can say about PSL not Read More

Over Priced and over taxed - 9/17/2017
Lived here for 2 years and I have to say that the area is nice, however, taxes are the highest I have ever seen. Home sales are advertised as very good but I have seen very little in the way of traffic to our home. The only thing you get from your taxes is trash Read More

Very nice town and very safe - 6/8/2017
Port St Lucie is the safest city in FL based on size. Very low crime. It's also very well kept especially St Lucie West. There are many recreation areas like parks for people to enjoy.. its extremely people friendly in that regard.

and of course its only minutes away from beautiful Hutchinson Island beaches... if you live closer to the coast line.. Lots of nature to enjoy.

In the Indian River Lagoon you'll see Dolphins swimming and fish Read More

Not so great - 6/29/2016
Ah yes, Port Saint Lousy. What I’ve found since moving here a few years ago is that Florida as a whole should be called “The Free For All State”. As far as this town goes it’s very obvious. Everyone is trying to get their hand into your pocket, and the town government is no exception. It’s obvious, yet taken for granted here as normal.
90% of the US Medicare fraud is in Florida. As far as the medical profession goes, it’s hard to find a decent doctor to stick with for more than a year or so before they skip town or you realize that their quacks. Dentists here? Forget it. Dentist offices are popping up around here faster than ACA halfway houses. You can’t trust any of them. They are incubators for dentists who want to practice on people to gain enough experience to leave town toward West Palm Beach or south, where the real money is. If you’re not bringing a job with you, or you have health problems, stay where you are because if you come here you’ll be sadly Read More

Not a good place for a single retired person. - 7/16/2015
I've lived in Port Saint Lucie for over two years. I came here after retiring from a key position in a large city law firm, and thought this would be a nice place to relax and enjoy my years of retirement. Rumors are that the city beaches had some kind of contaminated waters dumped on them and that they are not safe for swimming. There is a church practically in every corner, there are no community classes to attend and not much to do to stimulate your brain. The nearest opera is in Palm Beach, (there is a very small opera in Vero Beach) but it does not compares to the real thing. If you want to go to a classical concert, you better start driving 1 hour or more to West Palm Beach. The town dies when night falls. Unless you are fun of going to bars and having drinks, there is nothing more to do here. For a single older person this is not a place to stimulate your brain, and even for a couple may still be the same. If you would be happy to go to do some exercises at the Civic Read More
