inflated self-assessment - 7/6/2015
Don't know if it is the proximity to Atlanta that keeps prices high or the rural/frugal thinking that keeps housing opportunities at a minimum, but after living here for a year I STILL cannot find a decent place to rent. Most apartment complexes have poor to horrific online reviews or their annual rent well exceeds a home mortgage. My landlord's deferred maintenance has resulted in the subflooring deteriorating and he charged me for replacing filthy well worn NAVY BLUE carpeting so I could move in. Because there was no other available options and I was running out of time I rented this place without knowing that the bathroom doesn't have heat/ac or that the oven is missing crucial parts for its use. Substandard living conditions for $750 a month and this is one of the good houses to rent. Many houses vacant, but not for rent or sale. Gainesville - gateway to the mountains, but nothing here.

I moved to Gainesville,Ga in 2010 from NYC and I have found it's a great place to raise your childrens and a good quality of life.It's a good place to live. Gainesville has a strong job market. The area is surrounding by Lake lanier and the city set at the foothills of the mountains.

Gateway to the Mountains - 9/29/2008
My wife and I lived in Gainesville for a year in 2005 we found a small but growing city with a great industrial and manufacturing bace.We liked the collection of older homes and getting around was easy with thier bus service.The city was compacted compared to our home now in leesburg fla so you could walk to most places.The climate was good but air quality in summer was really poor.Gainesville has a good varity of parks you could spend a day just visiting

My Wife and I moved to Gainesville in 2005.We found a small city with a good industrial bace plenty of jobs its own place in history Sherman didn't come here soit still had a goodly collection of older homes.Its a great little microcity with good divercity.Its the best kept secret in GA.We loved living in Gainesville.Some of the down sizes that we found were increacing traffic.People will run you down if you can't stay with the traffic speed.They really like to dirve fast for a small
