Supposed gangs in IF - 7/1/2009
I lived in East Los Angeles where I am from and moved here several years ago. This city is wonderful in comparison, I can walk around at 1 am and not worry about getting jacked or blasted by anyone? There are Hispanics here but they are not like the bad ones in LA not even close! I have been to Walmart on Sundays a bunch of times and never had a problem or even had anyone approach me even? They have armed guards at the grocery stores in Southern California and video monitors in the aisles? Idaho Falls is a great place to live and is relatively safe compared to the bigger cities I have lived in, even safer than Salt Lake especially the South valley area of Salt Lake which is hazardous nowadays. Anyway Idaho Falls is a great place to

Idaho Falls area 2009 - 3/31/2009
Gangs have moved into Idaho Falls and surrounding areas from Island Park to Pocatello leaving destruction to property and lives. Idaho Falls once a great area to live now tells its citizens not to go to the local Wal-Mart on Sunday or you may be shot by one of the Hispanic in the area. Nor do you leave you children unattended in church. Church officials have been told the members to accompany there children to the restrooms for safety from molestation or abduction. Our school have police who patrol the hallways and curfew setup at night to keep people inside there homes. Rexburg Idaho only 30 miles North of Idaho Falls boasted of a major drug bust in there city which was a hub of drug distribution for the north west area of the USA. Ririe Idaho only 20 miles North East of Idaho Falls is the major meth users in the stare of Idaho, as reported at a educational convention held in Boise Idaho in

Extreme weather... Extreme religious groups.... no - 2/9/2009
I have lived here for over 4 years, and can't wait to leave!! Weather is totally irratic from one minute to next... spring summer and autumn all seem to last about 4 months total, and the rest of the 8 months are freezing cold and miserable. One thing on the positive, no matter how freezing cold it is outside, the sun is almost always shining in Idaho Falls!!
Another large factor is the extreme religion!! If you're not LDS (Mormon), look out cause the whole city is... and its "in your face" everywhere!! Theres an LDS church on every corner, in every community and on every open area of land being built!! This tends to create extreme discrimination in the schools here, especially for girls!! I'm all about free religion, but its almost like a cult out here. I'm getting out of here as soon as I

LDS dominate town - 11/15/2008
This town is dominated by the LDS religion in politics and the school system. Junior high and high school LDS kids are allowed to take a LDS class called Seminary during their school day. Despite this, they are not required to take any additional classes to graduate. Kids who attend seminary (which is the majority) ostracize children who don't. This is a very difficult place for non-LDS teenagers to grow up.
In addition, in the work place, if the boss is LDS, he/she will often promote or give special privileges to other LDS employees. Unethical behavior is often not reported due to LDS influence. If rules are broken by someone who is LDS, an LDS boss will not report it. A good-old-boy mentality is quite dominant here, particularly among people of wealth and prestigious jobs.
This small town with a low cost of living has a negative influence that is not realized until one lives here. If you have teenage children, this is not the place for

Our Charming City - 10/23/2008
I loved Idaho Falls from the first moment I came here in 1984 and moved here in 1989. Idaho Falls has a low crime rate, friendly people, diversity in climate, industry and recreational opportunities and is a great place to raise a family. Probably the most impressive thing to me was the beauty. The Snake River runs through Idaho Falls and the beautiful falls is in downtown Idaho Falls. Business developments (multi-use for residential, commercial and recreation) are now being developed along the beautiful Snake River along with wonderful green belts for running/walking along the scenic path. There is a quaint farmers' market on the river during the summer and free music and gatherings on the river, downtown and in area parks most of the year. Idaho Falls is now a Metropolitan Statistical Area which has allowed it to get national recognition for such things as its low unemployment rate, job creation and growth, population growth and safe/secure communities for families. If you want to

Our Charming Town - 10/23/2008
I loved Idaho Falls from my first visit in 1984 and moved here in 1989. The town is laid out very nicely and it is easy to get around with the exception of the one-way streets in historic downtown. Just pay attention to the signs and it'll start making sense. Crime is low, people are friendly and helpful and outdoor recreation is not too far away in any direction. The cost of living is also low. The beauty probably made the most impression on me. With the Snake River running through it and the beautiful falls in the middle of town, the city is breath-taking. Business developers are now helping to beautify the Snake River area with large, themed mixed-use business parks and greenbelts. The historic downtown is being revitalized little by little with a new multi-level mall going in on one of the main corners. A quaint farmer's market runs next to the river every Saturday during the summer. Free music and gatherings happen along the river and in the downtown and parks throughout the city

If you aren't LDS, this isn't the place for you - 10/17/2008
This town is great if you are LDS and are already married with a flock of kids. Because if you aren't LDS, you won't fit in. I lived here one too many years and finally moved back to California. If you are liberal, you definately won't fit in. 95% of the people here are very conservative, and if the fake families see you in a restaurant with a glass of wine, they'll think your an alcholic. If a holoday such as July 4th falls on a Sunday, they won't celebrate it until the day after or the day before. Sundays are holy days for these people. Trust me, these people are ignorant, closed minded idiots and stick to their inner circle. No exxageration. There are many restaurants, but they aren't fun to go to. Too many families flock to them with their screaming kids. I hated it! You don't see that in

Idaho Falls - 6/11/2008
Idaho Falls is not a large town (less than 50k, I believe). It has a lot of older ranch homes, and a lot of blue collar workers. There's not a lot of crime, and not much humidity. It gets pretty cold in the winter, and doesn't get too hot, even in the summer. It has the essentials of a place to live, but it would not be my first
