I have lived in Suffolk County all of my life with the exception of 4 years in the Marines. It is basically a decent place. The problem is the school taxes, property taxes, overall cost here, is prohibitive. If you have a good job, you will enjoy the area. Many people work hard on Long Island, some working two and three jobs to make ends meet. As a retiree, I am considering selling my home and moving to Arizona in the near future.
