Salisbury?I Liked it! - 8/3/2019
So we went to check out the area today as we consider buying nearby. I read all this crime stuff etc. I rolled through my potential hood and talked to a variety of neighbors walking dogs etc. African American female Susan, I am guessing 35 Yrs , couple early to mid 70s, white dude 35 years maybe. Here is the consistent theme on Salisbury. Great small city- crime and other issues- exaggerated. Great new police Chief making strong gains. We drove around quite a bit- Loved it Read More

Lock and load if you must come to this town - 2/10/2012
The apparently bucolic town of Salisbury is set in a beautiful southern climate with lots of beautiful historic homes and huge old-growth oaks.

Those charming turn-of-the-century ginger bread houses may have equally charming white picket fences separating pedestrians from meticulously landscaped lawns. But never step over one of those picket fences, or you may discover that the lawn is actually 2" of astroturf, covering 8 feet of sludge. So grotesque are the dirty little secrets in the town whose motto should be "To Seem, Rather Than To Be," that it's no wonder Salisbury is the backdrop to half a dozen or so crime/murder/thriller novels.

Many a visitor from out of town has fallen in love with the charm and bought homes here, only to suffer doubly from the real estate market fall, and a violent crime spree that is statistically worse than Detroit. Aside from the high murder rate, Salisbury has more registered sex offenders in the core area of the Read More

A Nice Place to Live - 6/9/2010
Salisbury is a very quite and convenient place to live. It is located in Rowan County and serves as the county seat. Housing cost are low with a wide range of housing options. Fishing and boating activities are available on the Yadkin River and High Rock Lake in northeastern Rowan County. The Uwharrie Mountains, the Black Mountains and the Pisgah National Forest are within a 1-2 hour drive and provide backpacking, camping, and fishing. The town is located halfway between Winston-Salem and Charlotte both of which are within a 30-60 minute drive of Salisbury. This provides easy access to two major airports, major shopping venues, major health care facilities, NASCAR, and various historical and cultural activities. The N.C. Zoo is about an hour away in Asheboro. There are two private liberal arts colleges in Salisbury and a mid sized community hospital. In addition, the N.C. Transportation Museum in Spencer, N.C. is about 10 minutes from downtown Salisbury. Salisbury is also Read More

Salisbury.. nice but boring - 4/1/2008
Recently reloctated to Salisbury in need of better economic situation and boy am I lucky!! leaving So Fla it was a VERY nice change and slower pace.. short commute to neighboring cities like Charlotte or Greensboro (20-40 minutes).. Great older homes and quiet streets.. City is in need of faster growth... potential is definitely there but needs an infusion of young blood!!! oh, did I mention the LOW LOW cost of housing; it SLAMS Charlotte, CONCORD and HUNTERSVILLE all neighboring cities!!! Salisbury is definitely a city to watch!! These home prices won't last Read More

Catawba College in Salisbury, NC - 4/14/2006
I worked at Catawba College in Salisbury, NC for several months and have found it to be a great fit for the student who thrives on individual attention and desires a supportive, close-knit environment. Salisbury is a small town with a rich, well-preserved history. The slow pace of life and the overt friendliness of the residents makes the town a great place to Read More
