Grew up in Fargo/Northern MN area and was there 29 years. It’s cheap to live, tons of things to do in the summer. But 3-6 months of the year you more than likely will have snow. A few of which will get to -20° With windchills of -40°. During those times, there’s not much to do. The bar scene is fun for about a week? But the people are nice-ish, there’s tons of work, and it’s extremely cheap to live.

Grew up in south Minneapolis and headed 3 hours west to Fargo. Why did I want to leave the Twin Cities area? Found a great job. Nicer apartment for less money. Nice people and way safer than Minneapolis.

Not your typical North Dakota town. Fargo is on the Minnesota border and Cass County makes up 1/4 of the entire states population. It is the urban center and much more moderate and diverse than the rest of the state. The average age only 30.4 years old which makes it very young. It's also the economic growth engine for the state of North Dakota and is rated one of the top places to start a business. It's economy is diverse and not dependent on oil or farming. The population is growing and the metro is 250K with a ton of jobs. It is located at the intersection of 2 major interstates (I-29 and I94), is a railway hub, has one of the larger regional airports, and has giant UPS hubs. There is a reason Fargo is growing rapidly - 12/12/2020
I have lived in Fargo for 7 years and there is a reason it's one of the fastest growing cities. Great economy, underrated entertainment scene, affordable housing, low crime (although up slightly with population boom) and a surprisingly diverse & young population with 3 - four year colleges. Winter sucks from Dec-Feb but summers are hot and have 18 hours of daylight. Only an hour from the Minnesota lakes area.
Entertainment: One of the largest concert promoters in the world is based out of Fargo (Jade Presents). Good mix of giant stadiums like the Fargodome 25k, medium arenas and tons of smaller clubs. Everything from The Rolling Stones to The White Stripes in a small club have played here.
Downtown is very cool but may be experiencing a little gentrification. It has a public square on Broadway that has an ice skating rink in the winter and a stage for summer events

Great place for a fresh start, but that's it - 9/3/2020
I've lived here for several years and have no regrets coming here, but this place isn't for everyone.
When I first moved to Fargo I was several thousand dollars in credit card debt with not much money to my name. Since then, four years down the line, I have enjoyed a massive growth in my bank account and all my debts are paid off, but socially speaking, I'm in almost exactly the same position as when I first got here.
The economy here is very, very strong. North Dakota relies a lot on agriculture and oil, which have been very stable industries. Everywhere is hiring, and the minimum wage most places offer here are more than enough to live off of with the low cost of living in this town. Additionally, crime barely exists here. If you keep out of trouble and aren't completely oblivious, you'll never be a victim of a crime. People complaining about crime have no idea how bad it is in the rest of the country.

FARGO a place to live. - 8/28/2020
I seriously didn't know what to expect when I moved to Fargo. Here in Fargo the cost of living isn't as bad as the rest of the country. There are efficiency apartments that are $380.00 per month, which isn't bad at all. (electric not included)
Food prices are a little elevated, and people can get on your nerves pretty bad here as with anywhere else you go. There is a little crime but Fargo is safe for the most part. Maybe a little petty crime here and there.
Some people are extremely impulsive and impatient when it comes to driving. You could be driving along and someone decides to play chance by burrowing straight out into traffic without looking before they turn, this is very common, so it is crucial to pay attention.
From what I noticed about the people, they are reclusive, they are mostly to themselves. Some of them are jerks, and some are pleasant on the surface. Most of the people who are from Minnesota are rough around the

Totally Underrated. - 4/10/2020
People here are really friendly, educated, and down to earth. The bars are fun, bar staff are also really attentive. Downtown is gorgeous for the most part & Gourmet eating in downtown is fantastic for the value. The only problem is it's so freaking cold most of the year.

I was born and raised in Fargo and I always tell people its a great place to be from. Its starting to get a lot of cool things going on downtown but it has a ways to go to compare with more open minded communities.
