Cleveland, Ohio is a bustling city located in the heart of the Midwest. With a rich history and diverse population, it has quickly become a popular place to call home. But what are residents saying about living in Cleveland? According to many user reviews on Best Places, the city has a lot to offer but also has some drawbacks. Let's take a closer look at what people are saying about living in Cleveland.

According to user "JohnD," Cleveland has a lot to offer for those who love sports and the outdoors. They state, "Cleveland is a great place to live for sports fans and outdoor enthusiasts. There are plenty of parks and trails to explore, and the professional sports teams bring a lot of excitement to the city." However, they also mention that the weather can be a downside, saying "the winters can be brutal and the summers can get hot and humid."

On the other hand, user "ClevelandBound" shares a different perspective, saying "The weather in Cleveland is actually one of the things I love most about living here. We get to experience all four seasons and the changing colors of the trees in the fall are breathtaking." They also mention the city's cultural scene, stating "there are always events and festivals happening, and the food scene here is amazing."

Another user, "MidwestTransplant," talks about the cost of living in Cleveland. They state, "Compared to other cities, the cost of living in Cleveland is much more affordable. I was able to buy a house here without breaking the bank." However, they do mention a downside, saying "the job market can be a bit tough, so it may be challenging to find a well-paying job in certain industries."

Lastly, user "JenC" shares their experience as a parent in Cleveland. They state, "I moved to Cleveland when I was pregnant and have been raising my kids here. The public school system is not the best, but there are some great private school options. There are also plenty of family-friendly activities and attractions in the city." However, they mention that traffic can be a downside, saying "rush hour can be a nightmare, so be prepared to spend some time in the car if you have a commute."

In summary, user reviews about living in Cleveland vary but overall, the city offers a diverse range of activities and a relatively affordable cost of living. However, the weather, job market, and traffic are commonly mentioned as potential downsides.

I have love for Cleveland...sorry if you don't - 6/3/2010
To all who have written horrible reviews calling Cleveland "disgusting" with its inhabitants all "crabby, cranky, and pale", I say that I'm sorry that you feel that way, but if you don't like it you can leave. We don't need any more negativity here. Obviously you have not bothered to explore any of this city other than the local sports bar, where of course you will see people drinking and watching sports (which is all you claim Cleveland has to offer). On Anthony Bourdain's travel show he claims that the episode where he explores Cleveland was his favorite. Why? Because we've got character. Yes the weather is rough in the winter, but we have beautiful fall, spring, and summer seasons as well. If you are not tough enough to brave a little snow, move back south. We could do without driving behind you while you are going 10 miles an hour with an inch of snow on the ground anyways. Downtown has its rough parts but also has very bustling entertainment districts with bars, comedy clubs, Read More

Weather - 4/30/2010
The Winters in Cleveland are cold and last from about late November to Early April. Spring & Autumn can be be beautiful with the blooming flowers and the changing colors of the leaves. Summers are nice and there is a lot to do with Lake Erie and the Metro parks. I have lived here all my life so I can't compare Cleveland with other parts of the country or the world but if you like the changing of the seasons Cleveland has Read More

Burrr cold. - 3/3/2010
It seems to me after living here all my life you just never really get used to the weather here. Some say they do but i disagree. It is usally six months or more of day time highs under 55 degrees. There really is a sunny day shortage most of the time also. I have worked in the construction field a long time here and find it to be as boring to. I do love Cleveland Read More

What a mistake - 12/11/2009
We moved here eight years ago from Atlanta for a job offer. The company was great, but quickly sold to British firm two years later and both my husband and I found new work downtown because we had already bought a house. The jobs are fine but we get out of Cleveland as often as we can just to recharge our batteries and remind ourselves that not every place in the country is so depressing.

We came here young and vibrant and hope to get out with our health intact. It is very difficult to live an active, healthy lifestyle like we were used to living in Florida and California. Half the year it is too cold and the other half, you have to drive 30 minutes away to get out of the pollution and to see some decent scenery. It seems the main activity for most people is watching sports in bars, and drinking. I can't blame them with all these low grey clouds.

Also, the health care and schools were touted by our realtor as in the top five in the country. Don't Read More
