Do. NOT. Get. In . Trouble. Here. - 3/3/2022
I've lived here pretty much my whole life minus a year here and there. After seeing what other places are like, I see how bad this place is. Nothing to do, and politicians judges and other civil "servants" if you want to call them that, just make it up as they go. Do not get in trouble here. Every third person they throw under the bus so to speak, so do not end up in court here. Don't even get a speeding ticket. You'll have a terrible time I promise. Read More

Once a great area, now a drug and ceime ridden are - 12/30/2019
I have lived in the Lakeway area my whole life ( I am in my late 40s ). While it was a one time the perfect area to live in, Morristown and its local leaders are ruining this beautiful area.

1. The ILLEGAL immigrant population continues to grow, unchecked, at an alarming rate.

2. There are two huge homeless camps inside the city limits with the largest being under HWY 25 as it crosses HWY 11. The Mayor as well as other Morristown leaders have been notified numerous times but continue to take no action. They pretend to not know hoping that their failure to act will go unnoticed. All the while local businesses are facing huge amounts of theft. These young, drug riddled vagrants area presence all over our town. Our local leaders do not care about the responsible people in our community.

3. Our county jail is over crowded to the point that it has made national news. I believe that criminals are to be punished for their crimes. I believe that most Read More

Not for the 20-35 set - 7/27/2012
I've lived here for about 22 yrs, the best of those being from age 5 to 18. Morristown is a great place to raise a family or retire to but if one is to "get ahead"...forget about it. This town is made of a specific job set (manufacturing, food, medical, and retail). Most of the people out of high school end up moving to Johnson City, Nashville or beyond to further education and "get out".

If you are a single, educated person looking for places to meet like-minded individuals, maybe partake in culturized activities, it doesn't exist. Unless you are under 18 or over 35/40 there isn't anything to do. Some people enjoy small town living but if you need culture to entertain your mind, don't like everyone knowing your business, or want to make a decent wage, don't move here. Read More

Would not recommend Morristown - 1/25/2012
I have lived in Morristown for over 40 years. I am currently trying to sell my home and leave. Morristown has a huge illegal immigration problem. The city looks like a run down slum anymore. Morristown use to be a great palce to live but not anymore. Meth houses, illegal alliens, and prostution rings are the only things still thriving in Morristown. Home values are on the decline above the national average. Industry is moving out. Only jobs left are minimum wage fast food jobs. Even though I currectly have my home for sale, I would not recommend someone from out of this area to move here.  Read More

Morristown, TN - Climate - 4/7/2009
Compared to TX, the weather in East TN is pretty nice during the summer months. That has to be one of my most favorite things about living here. Because of the Appalachian mountains, even in August you can get a cool Read More

I love Morristown - 12/26/2008
Just found this site today. I Read a few of the remarks on here. I moved to Morristown 30 years ago from the state of CT. I have to say I love Morristown for so many reasons First cost of living is low, taxes are cheap, there is no state income tax, don't know of any big crimes that go on here. Most people are friendly and and helpful. And as far as the mexicans that are here, they get jobs most people do not want. Only thing I do not like is the way they keep the lawns at there home's. Trash is always picked up fast when it is set by the road there is no need to have a trashed lawn. But it's not just the mexicans it is other races as well, Morristown was alway's the cleanest town I have seen when I travel to other towns in the u.s.But overall Morristown is still a great place to call Read More

Swapping Enviorments can be a huge improvement - 8/23/2008
I am speaking for my customer and sharing some of their oppion and reasoning for making the decision to move from NJ to Morristown, TN. In particular, this newley retired couple has choosen to live in a lake community (Cherokee Lake). They feel as though their quality of life will be greatly improved simply because their dollar with stretch so much further. They will be alble to go places, buy things, do more in TN then they ever could in NJ. "Everything cost less". Like many other retirees, the lack of state income tax is a huge draw as well. The other big change for most new residence can not be recorded statistically. More and more people comment about the hopitality of the Tennessee residence. There is just a different feeling one gets by moving to the volunteer state. I encourge everyone to experience Read More

Morristown is not heading in a great direction - 9/6/2007
My husband and I sold our home in Melbourne Florida, looking to relocate to a quieter community with a good quality of life. We have been right outside Morristown for three years and the cost of living is low, which is good. Homes are inexpensive here. However, Morristown is heading in the wrong direction. Economic growth is very slow and my husband and I have to drive almost an hour daily to have a decent job. Wages are terrible in Hamblen and Cocke county. We wish we never moved to the area.
The Mexicans have taken over due to lack of illegal immagration controlnd with that said the city lacks culture or diversity other than mexican culture. Employers are demanding that the heathcare workers speak spanish and pay only $7.00 hr-$8.00 hr.
So overall, this area is not advancing very quickly, but if rurals your thing Bybee, Morristown is right up your Read More

Hot and Humid - 12/18/2006
I’ve lived in Morristown, Tennessee for the last 5 years. It only has what I consider to be 3 seasons; spring, summer, and fall. What passes for winter here is daytime temperatures in the 45 to 50 range. Snowfall is almost nonexistent and will usually melt by mid-morning.

What is Morristown does have is hot and HUMID summers. Summer is in full swing by May with highs in the 80’s and humidity 85% and above. June, July, and August are miserable with temperatures in the high 80 to low 90’s and humidity 95% or greater. My wife and I pretty avoid outdoor activities and pretty much stay inside with the A/C going.

However, September to April is quite pleasant and the mild temperatures allow for many outdoor activities of which the area has many. With no winter, one can walk, run, hike, bike, backpack, canoe, fish, etc right from September to April.Read More
