We’ll see - 3/21/2021
My company is moving me to Boerne and I was surprised to find it has a higher property crime rate than Los Angeles (this is my own personal concern since I’m planning to purchase a home but don’t worry locals I’m not trying to move from California to pay California prices for a house because that’s not feasible for normal people even the middle class anymore and hasn’t been for the past 5 years). I’ve been making plans on how we’re going to set up our facility and have been busy hiring locals that are qualified and found everyone to be very friendly. Read More

Boerne is a welcoming place with all amenities - 9/6/2020
I have lived in Boerne (the area, not the small town itself) since 2006. Ignore the small minded folks who make reviews trying to discourage independent and tolerant folks from moving here. There are lots of us enjoying the community and those who want to keep it "small" are both in the minority and losing ground every day. Boerne is a great place to raise a family and get away from the big-city life of San Antonio. Boerne is at the doorstep of the most beautiful part of Texas, the Texas Hill Country. Restaurants, churches, parks, lakes, rivers, movie theaters, and world class shopping are no more than a 20 minute drive from most parts of Read More

Keep Boerne, Boerne - 4/20/2020
As a fellow Native Texan from the Texas Hill Country, I love Boerne. However, it is not for everyone. Let me tell ya who ain't gonna like it here. If you think Boerne is just another suburb, nope, your wrong, you won't like it here. Boerne is a German-Texan town with a rich founding and history. If you dont like smaller towns where you will run into people you like you dislike all the time, DONT move here. If you come here for a place to live, but work in San Antonio, DONT move here. You are only making traffic worse on IH 10 and you will hate how long the commute it especially with traffic. If you vote democrat, you wont like Boerne or Kendall County. Kendall County, (Boerne is the County seat), voted over 77% for Trump in 2016. This is a conservative, true Texas town and if you dont like that stick to California or some other crappy state. And if you dont like Southern drawls, (yes we natives in the Hill Country do have em), then dont move here. And if you move to Small town Texas Read More

Don't even think about visiting - 1/30/2020
I have lived in this town my entire life, my brother was born here, my family has lived here since the early 80's. THIS PLACE SUCKS! I have dealt with endless bullying with no end. I and my brother have dealt with assaults from other students. The views of others have driven some students to suicides and hospitals once again with dismissive actions. While the prices for homes are reasonable you might have to deal with unreasonable tennets. It is overflowing with overpopulated schools and neighborhoods and tourists. I have never met ruder people. Especially students of any age. In the words of John Read More

Boerne - a Mixed Bag - 8/28/2007
We are a family of 4 that moved to Boerne within the past 12 months, in an effort to escape the crowding and vanity of Dallas. We have owned our own business and done well financially, but wanted a slower paced, "regular" small town upbringing for our 2 boys.

Joan (another person writing a commentary) mentioned several items that are true about Boerne, particularly that its identity is wrapped up in trying to be a mini version of Fredericksburg, thereby catering to affluent housewives making day trips from San Antonio for lunch and antique shopping. However, I disagree with her assessment that the only dining options are limited to chain restaurants such as Denny's or Chili's (which my family tries to avoid). I suggest Joan look into the best micro-brewery this side of Seattle, in The Dodging Duck (they also serve a fantastic menu of organic bison burgers, salads, wraps, and German food. There's also the Boerne Grill that offers free Wi-Fi and great latte's. The Bear Read More

Bautiful countryside - 6/28/2007
We have only recently moved here and find it a very peaceful community. It is only about 30 miles into San Antonio which has all the services including good medical care.

We would prefer to have more cultural activities as well as closer University access. It is a rugged area, with western and spanish influence throughout. This appealed to us as we have always enjoyed the west; however, we prefer an area that is a little more vibrant even though we are post retirement age we still like the excitement that seems missing.

Our little town of Boerne has a preponderance of antique shops geared to tourists visiting the Texas Hill Country. There are some good restaurants scattered throughout the hill country, but none really close. There is, of course, the normal group of corp. establishments like Denny's, Chili's, Taco Cabana, etc., not too much in the way of fine dining.

Cost of living is probably not as high as other places in the US, but Read More

Great year round living - 8/1/2006
Boerne, being in the hill country of Texas, is in southern central Texas and has some elevation (900-1200 feet). The climate is very mild, even semi-tropical. The live oak trees, which dominate our property, stay green during the winter. This along with the mild temperatures and pretty consistant rainfall provide an excellent environment for growing things. Besides the heat and humidity which dominates from late July through September, you can always enjoy the Read More
