About Herndon - 6/6/2009
We actually live south of Herndon in Oak Hill (Zip Code 20171). The Town of Herndon is incorporated, Oak Hill is not. Herndon is a nice enough city with an historic area that includes an old depot. The W&OD biking trail runs through it, so if you are a biker it is a good place to live since the trail is easy to get on and goes for more than fifty miles, plus you are in the middle of the trail, so you can go to either end of the trail equally.

Herndon is becoming more Hispanic but is a nice place to live, with many older houses. It is convenient to the whole Washington metropolitan area and right next to Washington Dulles Airport, which makes it very convenient if you are a frequent traveler.

If you like the arts, you will find ready access to Washington D.C. a benefit, but there are also cultural opportunities in Northern Virginia, including George Mason University's Center for the Performing Arts.

Not really Herndon... but Sterling - 7/17/2007
I live in Sterling, right over the Fairfax county line in Loudoun County Virginia (yes, the fastest growing county in the country the last time I checked). It is an amazing place to live. We are 25 miles from DC, which we visit often, but this area has its own industry and it's own great restaurants. A few complaints are the traffic and the conservative VA government. But all things considered, the diversity of events in the area, the educated people from all over the world and the seat of the government being right here make it all a great place to live. Also, with three airports at our disposal, we can always shop around for good airfares for escapes. Job outlook and pay is great as well compared to most areas of the Read More

The Crossroads - 6/11/2007
Herndon has all the ammenities of a bigger city, yet close to the mountain getaways needed for those day trips into a different world. Transportation is readily available for whenever you need to go into the hustle and bustle of Washington DC, and whenever needed a trip west to get away from it Read More

Cost of Living - 11/16/2006
I have lived in Northern Virginia all my life - in Vienna, and then I bought a condo in Herndon 1 year ago. I love this place - things to do, activities, and seasons. However, due to the outrageous cost of living, I have decided to move west. Not only was my one-bedroom condo expensive, I could have purchased a house most other places. If you are a dual earner family you have a chance, but otherwise, the prices are just too high for most folks. The only reason my parents - both teachers - even live here is because they bought their home 30 years ago. The taxes on their small home will most likely force them to Read More

Herndon, VA - 7/12/2006
One of the reasons that I like living in Herndon, VA is that we are close enough to downtown DC to take advantage of the museums, theatres, and diverse culture of the area and Herndon is not too far from a Metro station, so going into DC is fairly convenient.
Herndon is close to Dulles Intl airport, which allows us to travel without much of the aggravation of going to Regan-National airport in DC.Read More
