With the world to choose from, we CHOSE Huntsville - 2/23/2019
When my husband and I were retiring from the military, we CHOSE Huntsville and the Madison County area as our final home place and sure enough, it's been the best move we ever made. The economy is moderate as compared to many places we'd been previously. The tax rates are very low when you put them up against his home state and the proximity to everything we need is incredible. We are less than two hours from Nashville or Birmingham. We are less than four hours from Atlanta or Memphis and around five hours to the beach or the Smoky mountains. When we want to go further, we have an International Airport that can connect us to flights all over the world. We have found that property values and the real estate market allowed us to get SO much more for our money and the crime rate in comparison to our last duty station in El Paso or even that of his home state is so much lower.
