I lived in Detroit until i was about 7 when it became too much. I lived in the city where where there are thriving gangs, and lost of crime. I literally used to live next door to a crack house, even though we lived in what was considered a better part of detroit. My mother finally decided to move us to the suburbs when a loval boy, about 14 was beaten to death with chains because he didn't want to join a local gang. Gunshots were heard regularly on my block. The police were a joke. You could be bleeding to death in the streets, and on a good day, the cops may be there in a half hour. On a bad day, they may not show up at all. There are big drug and prostitution problems, and many of the people who live in the inner city seem to have mental health issues.
