are you kidding? the beaches are disgusting around Venice, Marina del Rey and Playa del Rey. Not to mention if you want to leave the west-side to go any where else in the city you are stuck with all of the lincoln blvd traffic. we live in west la and we have to drive over an hour to get to any decent, clean beaches. originally from nc, i know what a nice beach is. the beaches an hours outside of nyc (jones beach) are way cleaner and nicer. you are probably from here or something..living in la-la land as they say!
