According to FBI statistics, Tucson has the highest crime rate per capita in the country!!! However, it is never talked about in the press or by any of the cities politicos. There's an attitude of if you ignore it, it will go away. Yeah RIGHT! I am amazed at the matter-of-fact headlines in the newspaper about the daily murders or bodies found and of the drive-by shootings and drug raids. For a city of only 900,000 the crime is more like New York City in the 70s. There is no doubt that the vast majority of financial resources the city and county have are used for the TOP priority of indigent healthcare, school meals and bus transportation. Meanwhile, citizens are dying, being raped and robbed every 30 seconds, our road system is literally falling apart, but they keep saying "there's just no money" for more police or road construction. I couls go on for days, but I'll spare you. You get the drift. If you're thinking about moving to a dryer climate, try Saudi Arabia. At least there, you'll be safe!
