Review of Mission, Texas

Paradise for Birders and Butterfly Enthusiasts
Star Rating - 5/13/2018
Mission, Texas is home to the National Butterfly Center, quite possibly the best location in the United States for photographing wild and free-flying butterflies. Proximity to the Mexican border means that many tropical butterflies native to northern Mexico wander across the border and can be found nowhere else in the United States. The World Birding Center has nine parks and wilderness areas in the Rio Grande Valley, including The Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park in Mission, Texas. Birders come from across the United States to find birds which can be found nowhere else in this country. There is likely no area in the United States which can match the sheer number and incredible variety of birds and butterfly species.
