Lousy climate, as is most of upstate NY: long cloudy periods, long winters, humid.
Cost of living high for what you get. High taxes don't buy much improvement to infrastructure.
Quality of life in this village is quite good overall. The village is walkable, safe, & has a pleasant variety of restaurants, shops, art galleries & museums. There are wonderful examples of architecture from the Victorian era easily accessed by foot or car. The village is the county seat so government services are convenient. The village-sponsored activities are family-oriented. Neighbors know each other.
