Review of Casper, Wyoming

Just don't
Star Rating - 9/19/2021
I've lived here 3 mo..... this place is run my retired Republicans that have nothing better to do then mess up other people's day. The town is very poorly taken care of.. the sidewalks and roads are not well managed, the whole town smells of sewage, there is NO ECONOMIC GROWTH. The only way to make it here is either to already have money or inherit it and believe me they ALL inherited and bred people just like them. This town has plunged into poverty, these people are in a delusion. There are very few creature comforts... literally only thing to do is drink or go up the mountain. I'm moving after winter, if you're thinking of moving here DONT! Move to Cheyenne or something, Casper has the number 1 suicide rate in the state for a reason. Don't waste your time or money

I'm a military brat and I would say that I would have to agree. Most people haven't even lived outside of the state. They think the Cheyenne mall is huge ?? Denver is a "big city". So there and lies the problem these people stay in their state they think that it's great and it's not. They're mostly ignorant and proud but honest and hard working and will admit when they're wrong but it takes some doing to get there. Very much biased but will welcome in a stranger definitely have a code but will let a let a person live there so as long as they keep to themselves and don't screw anybody over. It is kind of highly disturbing about how people do kind of marry people in the town and they've never moved away from for 5 generations or so and you can see it in some of them. Wyoming isn't racist which is a God-sent. It's too damn cold and remote to be worried about somebody's skin color when your car is broken down the middle of fucking nowhere. It's very much oil driven which is terrible considering how beautiful the state is. Fashion has improved there's more than just country to wear now there's Ho, gang banger, church Karen, Karen ?and City (People who know what fashion is outside the 4 corners of the state and refuse to conform.) Radio sucks it is always sucked in Wyoming, except PBS. I've lived here now for 30 years my parents moved me from a Amry base in Alabama surrounded by cities and the Gulf to this God forsaken place as a civilian. You talk about a culture shock. I honestly thought I was visiting a theme park my 1st couple days couple days because that's how cowboy it is. I was only 7 we You moved in the Spring so when we got up here I was waiting for summer to start heaven help me when snow came. The mountains The fresh air and the fact that I can see the stars is why I stay. ?And white, everybody is here. I don't care what ethnicity you are nobody gets the sun everybody here is white. people will help you out they're reliable here even if even if you don't like them you can rely on them. And I'm an honest person and I can't stand dishonesty and neither can people hear. We don't have time for that crap that's why I like the state you can't be pulling shit when you only have like 50 neighbors. I stayed despite the limitations. Be prepared for restaurants many of them are low class diners and they all serve the same slob. There are a few independent good places to eat mostly in Laramie, great 2 sushi restaurants believe it or not. There's also good Burger places, pizza places this is due to it being the only real college town in Wyoming. Don't believe the locals when it comes to cuisine cause they think Overcook shrimp and butter is a 5 star restaurant quality meal. I've eaten at 5 star restaurants in Atlanta Truly these people have now fucking clue. Don't tell them that though they're happy just go to Burger King. Moving to Wyoming with the exception of Cheyenne, make sure you keep that job because the chances of you getting hired with same pay or if your lucky if you get benefits is slim to 0. Unless you get a better job offer in the area you're SCEWED. Jobs are offered here pay very little again with the exception of Cheyenne & benefits ?? Their options are Walmart, Safeway or ALSCO a sweatshop. Unless you know somebody in the buddy system. I lived in Wyoming I know a lot of people I have a degree and yet other men were hired who didn't have a degree who didn't know what they were doing to do my job and paid more. I was hired after they were and I had to fix their shit with less pay, out of the buddy crucial because I WOMAN. Not only was a paid less I was sexually harassed mistreated and Basically used. As much as I love the state and yeah it's great to raise your kids in this state but that's only if you can put food on the table. Any type of medical or health assistance let alone food assistance is near and possible to get. It sucks if you're poor here. I moved out to Colorado got back on my feet but then came back. The only reason why I'm surviving now is because my fiance is making the money. Hell if I wasn't such a good designer I probably wouldn't have gotten 3 jobs in this state as a graphic designer. And even then I was getting paid what I was getting paid for answering phone calls in Colorado. I was treated better, paid more and I had benefits in Colorado I could survive on my own. Not the case in Wyoming especially for women. You could be working earning minimum wage paying through the nose in rent not have benefits and Wyoming will not even give you medicaid because you're not pregnant forget about food stamps, You might be lucky and there might be a soup kitchen, shelters please. It is near impossible to survive in Wyoming. With the exception of Cheyenne. This might be why our state doesn't have so many people Wyoming doesn't take care of it's people. We take care of each other that's why we like honesty and you should never fuck us over °~.?.~°

My family and I moved to Casper from western NY and we are thrilled to not have people crowding us and living on top of one another. We don't consider being able to go to Broadway plays or buy haut couture fashions a problem. Most people need to learn what's important in life and it sure isn't wasting money on restaurants that give you tiny portions of food and put three dots of "sauce" on the plate and charge you an arm and a leg for it while you leave feeling hungry and convincing you that this is Haute cuisine. Yes I took a cut in pay and few benefits but it was sure worth it to have peace and quiet and be away from high crime
