Review of Plainview, Minnesota

Not just your ordinary, average small town!
Star Rating - 12/2/2008
Plainview offers the best of both worlds to its 3,405 residents. Located 23 miles east of Rochester, this community retains its "small-town" character while providing residents with easy access to jobs, shopping and culture in Rochester, which is the largest metropolitan city in southeastern Minnesota. Plainview is located on the edge of the Richard J. Dorer Memorial Hardwood Forest, thousands of acres of reclaimed wetlands, bluffs and valleys. The Mississippi River is 14 miles east, while the Whitewater and Zumbro River Valleys, with their exceptional trout fishing and hunting, are within five miles of city limits. Plainview is home to two major agricultural producers that market products nationally and internationallyh---Lakeside Foods and Plainview Milk Products Cooperative. Other businesses serving a national market are ABA Water Systems and A.W. Beadblasting, Inc.
Plainview is also home to the Jon Hassler Theater, a regional theater company that is one entity in the Rural America Arts Partnership (RAAP). RAAP also coordinates the activities of Rural America Writers’ Center, which are held at the theater. For more information about Plainview, go to www.plainviewmn.com
