Review of Tega Cay, South Carolina

Contemplating a move to N/S Carolina
Star Rating - 3/14/2006
My husband and I are considering a move from San Diego, CA to North or South Carolina later this year. It's time for us to cash out on our tiny little southern California home and get something more substantial in a more family-oriented community. My husband is in the finance industry and believes work will be most easily found in/around Charlotte. We want to live in a lake community. We have children. Thus far, the Lake Wylie/Tega Cay/Fort Mill areas seem our best bet for education, crime rates, and cost of living. Does anyone have helpful advice for us? We are actually completely open to any area in North Carolina too--my only considerations are that my husband must find work (I'll be working from home), the crime rate must not be too high, and the schools must be good.

Hello- did you end up moving from So Cal to Tega Cay? My family is in Palos Verdes Estates (Los Angeles) and we are considering moving our family of 6 (kids 13, 10, 10 and 7) to Tega Cay. Can you provide me your email so my wife can reach out to your with questions? Thank you.

We are also from SoCal (Tustin, CA) and moved here in May of 06. We like living here. The access to the lake, close proximity to Charlotte. The Fort Mill school system is very good. Taxes are lower in SC than NC. The only thing we found difficult was there are no restaurants close by. We were spoiled in Southern California where restaurants were plentiful and diverse. If you don't mind driving to Charlotte or Rock Hill, SC, then you'll be fine. It was surprising to find out how much going to restaurants was a part of our life in SoCal. *g*
