Review of Sarasota, Florida

I lived in Sarasota for three years and I hated it. It's the most antisocial community I've ever lived in. Very unfriendly. I could cite multiple examples. Most people are transplants from the Northeast north of Virginia, or a military retiree. I'm 65 and a retired editor.

I haven't found the same to be true. I come from So Cal, and find the folks here about as friendly as in San Clemente where I lived for 30 years. Of course, if you've had no previous exposure to NYC / NJ types... We find most of our neighbors however are from the midwest. The NYC/NJ influx is more recent. I decided to respond, because I too am a retired editor.

I have to agree. I've lived in Sarasota County for over 6 years and find it very difficult to make connections with people. It's too transient. There's a lot of information on the web about why most places in FL are anti-social so I won't go into it, but I've never had such a hard time meeting open and welcoming people as I have here.
