Review of Jacksonville, Florida

Mandarin - enjoying Nature near everyday life.
Star Rating - 9/26/2009
The Mandarin area exploded with development in the early '80s bringing with it multiple lane road expansions and other "population oriented" necessities. However, the pristine nature of Mandarin still exists near the river and continuing into upper St. Johns Co.
Residents here enjoy an exceptional climate that also features a change in seasons - unlike further south in Florida Housing costs are reasonable, schools are great, residents are friendly, and opportunities for enjoying the nearby river, ocean, and parks abound. Although some areas are pricier than others, it is possible to live within a budget and enjoy nearby wildlife, evening walks, a variety of restaurants, and friendly people from all over the world. Being a military community, many retire here because they've enjoyed their stay so much.
It would be hard to beat this area in terms of cost of living, low crime, great health care, wonderful schools, and also many educational opportunities - formal & informal.
