Review of Albuquerque, New Mexico

Old Albuquerqueans do not want you here
Star Rating - 4/25/2019
PLEASE DO NOT move to Albuquerque. We DO NOT WANT more of you from California, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, and many other states. You have ruined our city and have jacked up our cost of housing. You DO NOT really appreciate our culture and our beautiful, rich centuries old culture. Instead you appropriate our culture for monetary profit while displacing us to God knows where in the bad parts of town while looking down on us as colonizers when gentrification is a form of COLONIZATION. Hypocrites. Respect us or leave or better yet, don't come here in the first place.

I agree 100% well said! They come here with a superior thinking attitude, and try to change it to their liking. I can't stand outsiders, especially from the south and east.

That's crap. It already WAS an old, dumpy ghetto town. The wages were already poor, crime and drugs were horrible already, houses were already poorly built and dumpy. The job prospects were already bad. they can only improve it.

Wow, what a crappy train of thought for someone who doesn't know me, as a Californian. I always focus on the positive and if I seek change, my actions are usually those that reflect the need for social reform. I believe this helps ALL people and having an influx of healthy people who are willing to work hard in every aspect of life is something every state in the US needs. So there!

Thank you. Every day I get confirmation like this that the people in this hell hole of a city are the stupidest people on earth. I'm surprised that they don't go around with their mouths open when it rains and drown. Look, superior thinking to these dysfunctional folks would belong to your cat. I'm outta here in 12 days, so I feel pretty happy. Trust me, the problems here are all home grown, or maybe Mexican grown. If you have the intelligence of a bug you're not going to be happy around these backward, rude, clannish, violent, uneducated people. The people who are like this stay, while the rest of us that have some sense and class leave. This is why it is like it is here. Please note that the idiot talking this trash is from another state herself!!!! Boy oh boy.

It really doesn't matter who moves to Albuquerque as long as they are not on drugs or alcohol, and willing to work hard. We moved here a year ago and already have jobs, from what I've seen so far, there's a lot of crime and low end folks. We didn't cause what was already wrong

The problem with this city are the "Old Albuquerquean's". Poorly educated backward thinkers who are keeping this city from forging ahead. This is a vibrant city with great potential and can only improve with an infusion of immigrants from more progressive states and modern vision. New Mexico has great untapped potential and will go no where without cultural advancement. New Mexico welcomes it's long deserved achievement.

Can't please everybody.

I come from a tourist area that used to be beautiful and full of the best people on earth. Some people came up every year to enjoy a vacation. We would welcome them with smiles show them where to fish, camp and at times let them stay in our camps. Then some tourists traps popped up and people with money would buy up land and strip the land of natural resources. Buy up antiques and anything they could to sell to tourists. I do not feel part of where I grew up aanymore. Crime and drugs is rampant. No one knows anyone anymore. I'm ashamed of where I grew up

Your sentiments are being vocalized in every nice city where refugees from expensive cities such as San Francisco and LA ect. have fled to. Do not think Albuquerque is unique in that respect. Just ask a local from Seattle, Portland & Bend, OR or Denver what they're city used to be like. The bottom line is: Nothing stays the same. Their are no hypocrites moving to your city. The spoilers are transients, the rest are searching for the American dream that became out of reach where they left. Albuquerque is just another domino in the chain, Face it, don't be rude about it. I don't understand the rudeness from New Mexicans. I had an elderly Santa Fe native not only be rude to me but he even made derogatory comments towards me. Thanks alot (poor disrespectful) New Mexicans.

Its better than Texas :) ... Seriously the air is fresh and clean, the sunsets are beautiful and the average rent for a one bedroom isn't over $2,000. I Love ABQ! But will the last person please lock the gates at the city borders.

As a Coloradan, I can’t believe anybody who lives here would want to live in New Mexico. Good Lord?

Hay Gabe from California. This a very typical far left wing reaction. You will get a lot of this crazy when you get here. I would suggest that unless you are getting a job at the labs or have a great job to come to DON'T move. I am a 55 year native and I am out as soon as I can secure a job elsewhere. Best of luck.

Who appointed you gatekeeper? It's not "your" city. Unless your people were the original Adam and Eve of ABQ, your people came from elsewhere, too. Diverse immigrants keep a city vibrant and from being inbred. Look at your UNM Hospital. Staff are from every corner of the globe. Same with UNM itself.

This is an excellent example of the attitudes that typifies the worst of ABQ, and keeps it mired in dysfunction. You will meet a ton of people who think, talk, and act like this, and who generally run things, in the arts, in business, and in government. They are insular, small minded, bigoted, and provincial. Like Mary says, leave this place to these losers. It's why ABQ was projected to be Phoenix or Denver, but instead remains the third world backwater it so emphatically and demonstrably is.

Helllo from California!!! Ill be moving to Albuquerque THIS JULY wooohooo! Thank you kindly for that warm Welcome! Hugs!!! <3

I lived in ABQ for 9 years in the 90's. I was thinking of moving back FROM CALIFORNIA. But after reading that ABQ is still as crappy as it was back then, or perhaps worse, don't you worry, I won't be coming back with my money for your depressed economy or to contribute my professional experience in public interest law. Thanks for the warning. Enjoy the crime and ever deteriorating infrastructure.
