Review of Edgecomb, Maine

Outdoor recreation in coastal Maine
Star Rating - 2/8/2009
Since this site is all about lists, here are all the things I do in my county alone: sea kayak, hike, x country ski, salt/fresh water & ice fish, 4 wheeling, ropes course, dog walking, water and land bird watch, hunt deer & birds, horse ride power line trails, downhill ski overlooking the ocean islands (don't ever miss Camden Snowbowl - especially the National Toboggan "Championships" - hilarious fun),snowshoe, you can mt bike but I don't...the only draw back is finding others to join you. I moved here 10 yrs ago after traveling here as a tourist every summer thinking I'd have an endless amout of play buddies and still can't figure out why I don't. MOAC.org is a great resource - Maine Outdoor Adventure Club, but usually activities are too far south of here. Thus, I am looking into moving south for a while. The weather is super here April-October but brutal in January (negative 15 degrees often this yr). My muscles are getting tierd of shrugging against the chill when not wrapped properly for sport. Enjoy and get gear at second hand stores - if you work a holiday part time job at LL Bean, you get employee store discounts (ie a $300 tent for $8 - really). You learn the tricks to fun around here fast :)
