Review of Longwood, Florida

Pros and Cons
Star Rating - 7/16/2013
There is no doubt that Longwood is a family-friendly community. There are lots of nice neighborhoods and it feels quite safe here. There is always something to do with your children and the surrounding communities are also very family-friendly as well. The schools are great and the beaches and theme parks are only about 45min to and hour away. Many people take the short 30 minute drive to work in Orlando.

However, there are certainly drawbacks. It is amazingly hot most of the year which means that outdoor activities are limited to water-themed only. You can only go to the park, bike ride or walk 3 months out of the year during "winter" because of the heat. Also, it is near impossible to get natural products or organic produce without paying a small fortune. Even the farmers markets sell produce thats shipped from other countries and not organic. Most all of the restaurants/stores are major franchises and small businesses suffer a lot. There's a McDonalds on every corner.

It's definitely not the place to be of you like nature, healthy eating and living or the outdoors.
