Review of Blowing Rock, North Carolina

I've been in Blowing Rock for about 8 years and can't wait to leave this gloomy place. It is grey and cloudy most of the time. The rating it has on this site of 199 days of sunshine is wrong. They must be counting the days where we see the sun for maybe an hour before it goes grey again. So depressing. It is a beautiful town to vacation and when it is sunny, it is superb but don't move here if you like sunshine or get depressed from continuous fog and overcast grey weather!

Drive 10 Miles South to Patterson NC (Happy Valley) located in Caldwell county with lower taxes. Austin Creek is a beautiful gated community in Patterson, many custom homes for sale. Life circumstances have changed for several owners due to either health, divorce or death of a spouse. Sunshine, beautiful long range mountain views and homes higher than the tree tops!!

I love the foggy days and hearing the wind blowing at night. Summers are cool and delightful. And winters are even better as the hundreds of trails around the place sit deserted - all to myself. And nothing beats standing at a lookout point to see the serene landscape for miles around. It's a dreamy, peaceful world. And then, the town has dozens of nice restaurants, and more down the way in Boone. I lived there for years until my place got repossessed when I lost my job. And if I ever have the chance again, I will return.
