Review of Bangor, Maine

A Very Sad Place With A Negative Outlook.
Star Rating - 9/15/2019
I have never lived anyplace and been as much of an outcast and a social pariah as I have been in Bangor ME. I have lived here for 4yrs. and have been met with contempt at every turn. Nothing I could have done would have won the respect of the people here. Racial and homophobic abuse are daily occurrences; rather I'm walking into the post office, the grocery store or catching a bus. Bullying and intimidation are the most common forms of communication. The majority of adults here do not possess any education beyond 8th or 12th grade, which would explain why most of them have the emotional maturity of prepubescent teenagers. The healthcare system is a disaster in terms of both, access and quality of care. Education is failing (and falling way behind), and retail, which is a dying industry, is the only industry to speak of. With an aggressive property crime rate, thriving drug epidemic, and rising violent crime, and a rapidly emerging homeless population; one would hardly reference Bangor as a city on the move.

Wait, which is it, 8th or 12th grade? I need to know because that is four years of difference. Perhaps you meant 10th grade. Either way it does not make much sense because one click on the "Education Stats" tab on this website shows that 92.3% of the people in Bangor have a High School diploma, which is above the Maine state average and 33.3% have a four year degree which is well above the Maine state average. That is quite the conundrum. How would one so intelligent and well educated make a statement that is spurious on its face and proven factually incorrect with minimal research? I'd venture it's because you're speaking in hyperbole, and appealing to your own sense of vanity in lieu of making a cogent argument. It is a common tactic amongst those who imagine themselves educated despite never having bothered to learn anything.

They were VERY unhelpful and cold in Maine about twenty minutes from Bangor when I needed a health exam while living and working there seasonally, saying the entire State of Maine refused my health care coverage. Ha. So I left. Their loss. I believe Stephen King has an education beyond the 8th grade; why doesn't HE help? I have three college degrees and pursuing my MBA currently.
