Review of Cumming, Georgia

Transplant to N GA
Star Rating - 7/7/2013
We moved to Cumming, GA in 2012. It's growing rapidly and has a number of housing options for families of all sizes. Cost of living here is higher than the national average but lower than many major cities in the US. We found that housing costs are not necessarily lower but that you get a lot more house for the same money as other areas. There are some great neighborhoods to choose from here and Atlanta is only about 35 miles away. Water and Natural Gas cost more here for some reason. And, it will cost as much to heat your house in the South as it does up North because .... the builders don't insulate as well down here and basements are not common. Property taxes are lower here than other comparable areas and sales tax varies by county. Overall, if you compare costs for housing and large ticket items ... Cumming is comparable to most places and provides good access to a major SE city.
