Boston is great? Think again.

I was born and raised in Boston, the only good thing about this place is the money, if you have a great job. Other than that, the weather sucks, people are rude, people are racist, and it is not a pretty city. Schools are great, only if you can afford it. It’s a fairly clean city except maybe the more urban areas.

I give Boston one star because after all these years, it hasn’t gotten better. If you’re not white it’s sort of difficult to move up professionally. At least for a minority, you have to constantly be in a defensive mode because racism is alive and active here.

Thanks Stephen for the review. Helps people like me a lot. I am a naturalized American born and raised in India. I am looking for a new city to move to, and I hear that Boston is quite racist even though some people disagree. I am thinking of Philly, DC or NY NJ area. I'd love to hear from you about these cities.

Ok, people pay close attention...that is NOT a real review of Boston, the people aren't rude, the city is beautiful and extremely clean, please go to New York or anywhere else if you think Boston is dirty, and that racist narrative is pure BS and makes me mad, I've lived here my entire life and many many years ago maybe some of that was true but no, racism hasn't been close to a problem here in a LONG time!

Stephen, I am a successful 38 year old black woman living in Beacon Hill. I've resided in Boston for 15 years and have moved up professionally in Biotech with just good old fashion ingenuity and hard work. I have my own business and can luckily afford to live here. I am originally from South Jersey and experienced more racism there than in Boston. I don't have to constantly be in defensive mode and I wasn't that way in New Jersey either in spite of my environment. It is possible to be black and happy here. Be at peace, brother.
