Beautiful Summers, Slow Winters

Homer is really great in the summer. It has a variety of little restaraunts, cafes, and coffee shops to suit all tastes. There is an active outdoor recreation scene between kayaking, hiking, biking, and sport fishing (among a number of other activities). In the summer it doubles in life with tourists, making for a lively and sometimes crowded scene. In the winter everything slows down to zero. Most shops close, a number of people take off, and unless you have children going through school then there isn't much to do.
