Very sad for a potentially cute small town

We have lived here for over 8 years. I have found some very good people here but overall this is not a nice place. It is very clanish. If you were not born here you are not welcome. The town does not want to see change. The Chamber doesn't promote small businesses.
We moved here to be a part of a small town and to offer what we have to help. Those offers have been rejected because people thought there was some kind of ulterior motive behind our desire to give.
There are a few regular events like the Christmas parade and a car show. But what could happen doesn't because so few people are unwilling to volunteer. Now if you like high school football this is the town you want to live in. Everything here revolves around football.
Talk to the majority of people here, especially younger people, they want to get out of the area. There is a huge drug problem. Along with drugs comes crime. Unless you are willing to pester the police those crimes will not be investigated.
There is nothing to do in town. If you want any kind of entertainment be prepared to drive 45 minutes to Fort Smith. There isn't much to do there either.
