I've lived in this one horse county the majority of my life.... lived in Charleston, SC(3 years) and Portland, Or(briefly). It's a great place if you are hunting a church to go to... we have more churches than any other place I've ever been(should be an indication that we can't get along)! The only thing I LOVE about being here is the mountains! We have some of the most beautiful waterfalls and rivers in the country but after the sun goes down you can forget any kind of entertainment. Country bumpkin bars and walmart are your choices. My husband and I had to drive an hour today to get good food. Our "good" restraunts are Applebees and Fatz... not exactly my idea of good food... they have the same menu just different names and spices. We had a very low cost of living but since the yank's have taken over and made it like where they came from(i love new people unless they try to change tooooo much). We had a beautiful lake to swim and boat in, but you can't even park on the edge of it anymore... they will run you off... you have to have a mcmansion on the lake to enjoy it... unless you want to swim in a crowded county park... and they are crowed because the land owners decided that instead of public access they could make more money building their mcmansions... personally i hope the lake dries up and their property value plummets :) but that's just my opinion!
