Review of Veneta, Oregon

Nice place to live
Star Rating - 5/29/2008
I've lived here 16 years, and I still think it's a nice place. It's rural, but only 20 miles from Eugene. We have a reservoir for boating and fishing, and we can drive 50 miles west to the coast, or 50 miles east to the mountains. There are hot springs in those mountains, too. Mushroom hunting is a great way to spend a day in the nearby countryside, or you can be entertained at the Secret House Winery; once a year we have the Oregon Country Fair.

There's a lot of new development, but our population is only around 4000, so we can afford it, and there are benefits that come with new people.

You can't go anywhere in town without meeting someone you know, and you can own a home with acreage just 5 minutes from downtown. Not a bad way to live.

The only drawback for me is the number of gray days. It rains a lot here.
