Old Houses
Star Rating - 12/3/2008
Sharon has many lovely old houses. The area was thriving in the early 1900's, and many of the old houses date from that time period. The city of Sharon merges with the surrounding cities of Hermitage, Sharpsville, Farrell, and uniquely crosses over states. At Stateline Road, one side of the street is in Pennsylvania, the other side is in Ohio. The West Hill area of Sharon was the place to live early on, and the houses there have a wonderful view down a steep hill, towards downtown, and up towards Hermitage. Anywhere else, it would be million $ view, but sadly the economy has continued to slide, and the West Hill is no longer the choicest area to live. There are lots of victorian, stick style, cottage style houses throughout Sharon. When I moved here, almost 30 years ago, I was delighted to be able to buy a house, victorian syle,in the" new" east side of town, newly developed in 1902 that is, still with the original wood siding and woodwork inside. My house has only had 5 owners, including me in the past 106 years. The city is filled with great old houses, and is very affordable. This is your chance to have a wonderful old house at a bargain price. I've recently met people who are moving here from cities to retire, and the cost of living hopefully will draw more people to the area.

Rose, thank you somuch for your summary of Sharon. I am actually looking to move here for the low cost of homes and their Victorian charm becz now I’m closer to retiring. Is there a sufficient amount of handyman types who do remodeling/home repairs?
