Review of Lake Havasu City, Arizona

Blistering hot 9 months out the year
Star Rating - 4/8/2019
I have lived here for 22 years. I hated as a kid, and now as an adult with children I have mixed emotions about here. The heat is awful, do not believe the weather averages you see online. I was here when we hit 132 degrees. June-Aug is 105-120 degrees, and it does not cool down at night, it could be 100 degrees at midnight. It is hot most the year, we get two months of cool weather sometimes 3. Monsoon seasons are pretty cool, we get very intense ones, alot of flying trampolines, roofs falling apart, we have even seen a motorcycle go flowing down the street. But it also brings bad humidity with over 100 degree weather.

This is a tourist destination, we get the snowbirds 4-6 months out of the year. In our area we get 2 million. snowbirds in the winter they camp out in the empty deserts around here. Impossible to go out to eat or get a doctor's appointment. I do have to say they bring me business in my shop so I am happy about that.

Spring/summer vacationers are terrible, they are mostly Californians, some are college kids from all over. But they trash the beaches and downtown. I hate the lake and all the partying so we stay away from downtown as much as possible.

Schools are good, but nothing for them to do outside of school. We have sports but it is too hot to play so they have practices so late at night when the sun is going down. This town caters mostly to the snowbirds, not the families with children. But i will say not alot of crime, always feel safe here, we do have a meth problem but I think everywhere does now of days.
If you love the extreme heat, boating, and desert off roading then it is the place for you

First off, it has NEVER hit 132 F in Lake Havasu City. NEVER. The hottest it ever got was 128 F in June 1994. Look it up. People come here for the wrong reasons, then gripe about what a terrible place it is. If you don't like the desert.... Don't come here. If you don't like the lake and water sports..... Don't come here. If you don't like very hot Summer weather..... Don't come here. If you are a flaming liberal Democrat, and not a conservative.... Don't come here and cry about how there are only, "Trump lovers and gun shops". The fact is Lake Havasu City is a conservative leaning, HOT, desert town. If that doesn't appeal to you, then move elsewhere. Don't come here to torture yourself, then complain about it to people who don't want to listen to it, or you in the first place. Live elsewhere. You, and we will all be happier.

I have lived here all of my life sadly (30 years). I totally agree with all of what you said. I will add unless you are in the medical field, or own your own business there are not that many well paying job opportunities here. Not for us either
