nice low cost place to live, nice area, but few go

The greater Binghamton New York area is a nice place to live. It's cultural diversity has improved greatly in the last 30 years. It's still very "white", however, whether you mean attitudes or food.
Unfortunately, the jobs outlook is bad. There are no good ones except for local defense contractors. Indeed, we're lookin' to leave.
