I live 15 miles from Cadillac and I agree with Northern Girl. This town is very cliquey and many locals have a very high opinion of themselves. Property taxes are high. The area is filled with natural beauty and outdoor sports are plentiful. The folks know how to be "tourist friendly, " but those who didn't grow up in the area and move here are treated with mistrust and as an outsider for many years. I've lived in this area for 18 years and love it. If someone told me I had to live in Cadillac, I would move away.

I dated a man who has now moved back to Cadillac. I came to Cadillac with him to visit his family. Definitely treated like an outsider! And unfortunately, most do think they are more knowledgeable than the outsider from the "big city." This is not a community where one would say: I can see myself moving here. Truly don't think the community would be all that welcoming. They prefer their men to marry the "local girl." Not bring an outsider in. This is not a Ben & Erin "Home Town" community. And to be honest, I truly don't think the locals want any outsiders coming in. Very sad.

I agree. Dated a man who has now moved back to Cadillac. I came with him to visit family. People have no problem letting an outsider know that they are an outsider! And unfortunately, they sure do think very highly of themselves and basically think they know more than an outsider. This is not the kind of community one would say oh great small community would consider moving here. They just want the tourist money and definitely want them to go back to where they came from. This is definitely not a "Ben & Erin" Home Town environment one would want to invest in. And to be honest I truly believe the locals have no problem with it.
