Think Twice Before You Move to Willows
Star Rating - 6/6/2020
I’ve lived in Willows for three years. I love my house. I love the space and natural beauty in the area. My love stops there. Crime is terrible- drugs and thefts. There is a good old boy attitude here. The city council is corrupt and real estate agents are part of the crowd. Use an agent from outside this town, if you purchase a home. The poverty level is high. Citizens can’t afford to maintain their property. Some streets are better than others. Children have their bikes and scooters stolen from fenced areas. I was told it’s been going on for years. Dogs leave land mines on yards (daily)and in the parks and the cemetery. Dogs and chickens roam the streets. The city refuses to enforce the ordinances. There are no restaurants (most are dirty and have cockroaches). There are a few shops. All the buildings are empty. No doctors or dentists are willing to take new patients unless you have a relative in town. It doesn’t matter how good your insurance is. You could use your insurance at the “free” clinic. You pay , if you have insurance. It’s not free. Events: parades, fireworks, etc. are not posted or announced online or in a calendar. You are supposed to know someone who will tell you. There are many churches, but no one attends. The exception is the Catholic Church and the same situation about welcomeness exists there as in the rest of town. If you move here... Enjoy the beauty of your own home and nature. Get surveillance cameras, an alarm, fence your front yard. Drive to Chico (45 miles one way) for appointments, shopping, and entertainment. Also, never voice you opinion...unless you believe in Trump’s gospel. You will be threatened and told about guns. I just stay away from doing business here: except the post office. I just say hi, and maybe the greeting is returned. I have owned property in this county for 50 years and my family. The neighboring town is becoming a little better.oh- I did find a doctor two weeks ago. He’s new town.
