Review of Redmond, Oregon

Fog Question
Star Rating - 8/18/2015
I really have a question more than I comment. I am considering moving from California to Oregon when I retire. I know that the Medford/Grants Pass area has fog in the winter time. Does Redmond also get fog in the winter time?

Hello Charlotte: Did you find out any info from anyone about Redmond?? One person who lives there said it is "nine months of cold" which does not sound appealing. I was considering a move to Bend but since the area has "tons of junipers" like my friend there told me (I am HIGHLY allergic to them), I may now have to consider Redmond since it is lower in elevation and has fewer junipers. I am originally from San Jose, CA. and moved to Albuquerque in 2013 but now regret it for various reasons. And I was considering the Medford area where another friend lives but it has air quality and excessive heat issues which I sure do NOT want in retirement. I may also consider the San Luis Obispo area, though it is not cheap, unfortunately. I hope YOUR plans work out for you and if you want to reply, please do! Thanks! I've lived in Redmond for 6 years and have seen almost no fog whatsoever. Since Redmond is so arid there isn't that much moisture to create fog.

COLD is an accurate description. Whoever said it is warm from April to October is not accurate. There may be some warm afternoons on occassion but cool to cold is more the norm for Spring and Fall. The nights are always just plain cold and it rarely warms up before noon. Summer only lasts from mid June to early September. The rest of the year is very unpredictable and more often cold than cool.

Not really. Redmond is high Desert Country near the Cascade Mountains. Medford is in the Rogue Valley and can get socked in quite often with Fog and Smog! Beware. If you want cleaner Air, choose Redmond. I'm heading there myself. Breath taking views of the Mountains and Smith Rock State Park in North Central Oregon. Winters can be bone-chilling but their Summers are Heavenly! Almost never above 80*. Good luck!

Hi there, I live in Terrebonne, just outside of Redmond. Don't be fooled by elevation, we have tons of Junipers all over Central Oregon. I don't agree with 9 months of cold. Coming from Portland, our cod is very dry, so it does not feel as cold.

I've lived in Redmond, OR for three years. MAYBE one day of fog each year. I love the climate. Warm from April through October, very low humidity, sunny days 2/3 of the year, including winter. Definitely 4 seasons, which I like, also.
