Being a suburb of one of America's biggest cities has its perks. We reap all the cultural benefits without all the urban disadvantages. Pickerngton is a smallish, tight-knit community with many upscale but affordable homes,several parks and top knotch schools. Our schools' academic, athletic and extra curricular programs are nationally recognized. Living "next door" to Columbus means we also reap its rewards. Columbus has a wonderful symphony, an art museum, and other than N.Y., Chicago and L.A., few cities offer the live theatre quality of Columbus. Columbus is a host of the Broadway across America series, we have many wonderful small theater companies, and fabulous productions from the many colleges in the area. (not to mention the educational opportunities from having a concentration of so many colleges nearby.) Our own Pickerington North high school boasts a beautiful performing arts center with consistently superb productions whose elaborate sets rival those on Broadway (kudos to Scott Stiles, our set director!!) Sports fanatics get their fix with major league hockey and soccer teams and minor league baseball all in beautiful new facilities. And Ohio has TWO NFL and TWO MLB teams that are just a stone's throw away to the north and south of Columbus. And, even if they currently are suffering a black eye, we LOVE our OSU Buckeyes! Columbus, like the larger cities has so many "flavors"...German Village, the Brewery District, the Arena District, Italian Village, the North Market and Short North, etc. Lately, Columbus has become a destination city for "foodies" because of the many upscale and unique dining opportunities. So, if you are looking to live in a friendly city with an abundance of things to do, without the hassles of big-city living, come sample life in Pickerington.
