I Totally agree with you it is very unfortunate what happened to that young man how His parents abandon him however that’s not the case with everybody and I don’t think there is a bad place to live. I’m actually in the process of relocating there and I think it’s beautiful very different from North Chicago very violent the place that you don’t wanna come to CHI-RAQ

Something doesn't sound quite right here Tom. Let's start with the "parents abandoning you at 17." When I was 17, I abandoned my parents - not lawyers but southern simpletons - by joining the Marine Corps. By age 17, just how must more parenting did you really need? The answer became quite evident as I read further. Research shows we actually get about all we need from our parents by age 7, and you got 10 more years. If you watched them get their butts up out of bed everyday and go do something productive...if they were both educated and led you to see the importance of the same...if they established an environment where you had to think and solve problems, become mentally and emotionally tough, and build a coping system to face the harsh world...then exactly how much more did you want Tom? So the fact that your story starts off with a sympathy play speaks volumes. The fact that so many who commented actually buy your BS, just tells you how few critical, analytical, logical thinkers we create these days. It's obvious Tom, by all the categories of people you berated - including this cracker who put his life in harm's way for 20 years so you could speak so freely - that you're a hater. Anyone, or ideology, that doesn't fully embrace yours deserves your scorn. Wake up Tom, Gulfport, Mississippi isn't the problem. Your emotional immaturity is. Now, if you happen to live a lifestyle that's socially frowned upon in a certain geographical area, then do what all the animals do Tom, migrate...and then be happy. Seriously...be happy! If not, seek therapy.

Sorry your parents abandoned you and you had a difficult time. No one should have to experience that. It obviously had a significant impact on your overall view of the entire state, which is understandable. However, this story isn't one exclusive to Mississippi - such things happen everywhere in the world. Mississippi is not a perfect state, but not nearly as bad as you describe it. I hope those who read the review do so with a grain of salt. Most Mississippians are warm and welcoming, and if some of them carrying a gun makes one nervous, don't let it. They carry for their protection and others', least a psycho pulls one and starts shooting up another public place. Political and financial corruption, well,...those is a world-wide issues and Mississippi is not simply immune to it.
