Review of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania

Former King's Student
Star Rating - 5/7/2007
Wilkes-Barre was a wonderful place to go to college. With two schools near each other (King's College and Wilkes College) the atmosphere was exciting. The city of itself has been thru hard times but is on the rebound. The King's/Wilkes sports rivalry was fantastic with packed gyms on a winter night each side rooting on their school. The architecture of the older buildings in the city is gorgeous and the city in general is proud of it's anthracite history. Kirby park and the riverbank are nice places to visit on a sunny day. Because the city supports two major universities there are plenty of things for young people and families to do, not to mention the access to books and information thru the school libraries. All in all Wilkes-Barre was a great place to live while in college and I would not mind raising a family there.
