Agree. It's especially apparent in the mid-zone between ALB and Cruces, which is the one-way in for the US poor, destitute, run-down or run off. If you have $$$ you can set up your own compound, but at some point you're going to need groceries. Like most we were enchanted by the sunsets, hot springs and startling scenery. Then reality sunk in with ppl trying to clean us out or just taking advantage of things. NEVER had that anywhere I've lived before, and I've seen a lot of the US from big cities to rural areas. Very disappointing.

it is a bit overboard, but generally NM is a crappy place and don't shoot the messenger. the stats speak for themselves, despite your perceptions of your world there. overall, there is limited to zero job opportunity if you don't sell out & work for a nuke weapons lab or the air force. people are generally lower class, uneducated, and many will rob you, jack you, or shoot at you. again, don't shoot the messenger - stats of crime don't lie. there is no "good" area in albuquerque. it's all relatively crappy, run-down, poor and crime-ridden. if you live in a "nice" area, crime will come to you. bet on it. albuquerque is the rectum of the southwest, with stats to reinforce - an indefensible city. if you still want to try to defend the state... it's ranked 48th in the country. one of the poorest states in the nation with the 50th best education system. some of the highest violent and property crime rates - around double the national averages. tackle lack of opportunity, high crime, and green chile being the only notable economic benefit that comes from the state....manana bro!

I've lived in the santa fe area for 24 years as a single woman. You are painting the entire state with your own experiences which, for your information, neither I nor any of my single (both white and ethnic) woman friends have EVER experienced. I'm also suspect of your claim to 'intelligence' given your inabilities in spelling and grammar. Yes there are tensions between Hispanics and whites in town but that has always been the case and probably always will be. Your experiences depend on what choices you make - obviously, better ones are to be desired and can certainly be found everywhere in Santa Fe.
