Small Town Living
Star Rating - 9/28/2010
A very small town and everything to go along with it. While I value some of the small town characteristics, others I could do without. Mountain View is wonderful for raising families. The one thing that I would have to complain about is that when you move into Mountain View from "off", you are forever considered an outsider. One person questioned a local man about when she would be considered being from Mountain View, and was told "Not in your lifetime." Aside from that, the area is beautiful. The Ozark Mountains stretch for miles. Rivers and lakes close by. National Forest, complete with caves and natural springs, just miles away. In town are a few musical/revue type live shows, and music on the courthouse square.

This is why small towns are dying and no one wants to live in these small towns. I get this with where I live in Northwest Alabama. They'll let you spend money, but don't dare ask someone to be your friend. So young people have a conundrum when they want to relocate from crime infested areas. Go to a small town like mine and be a recluse and take the jobs no one else wants and be ignored. OR stay in the cities, have many friends, but live in high crime areas and take their chances. Maybe in the future when the older folks die off these kids of ours might have a chance in small sweet towns they can raise a family in.
