Review of Pahrump, Nevada

Too isolated for me
Star Rating - 3/26/2019
Moved to Pahrump 5 years ago from Oregon. I wanted to move to Las Vegas but my husband talked me into moving to Pahrump. I wanted the shopping and activities and restaurants of the city. He wanted small town. I used to live in Las Vegas and loved it. I can drive in Las Vegas on surface streets and get to stores. I have panic disorder where I cannot drive on freeways or fast roads by myself. My husband promised he would take me to Las Vegas Any Time I wanted. After 5 years we haven't gone there yet except to go to my doctor. There are no specialists in Pahrump, so I need to go to Las Vegas for doctors. I have searched for 5 years for transportation to the city for shopping and activities. There is none. I am totally isolated here. I would get a divorce, but we're retired and I only receive $500 per month social security so need both incomes to survive. I was lied to when we moved here and regret it every single day. I have tried to find friends for activities, but no one seems to want to go into the city. People go to the city for work, but they are younger. There are hiking groups, but I have trouble walking long distances, so I can't join in. If you don't have transportation and like activities, don't move here.

You moved from Oregon well you would have more stress with more of the tax they take correct? It da lot cheaper in pahrump it’s great ran by republicans and it’s safe and affordable. I am from the UK lived in many countries. I moved from Henderson 2005 and 2020 still in pahrump I love it. Yes, I did at one time commute it was a straight drive now all the new traffic lights on the 160/blue diamond to pahrump is getting out of control and everyone from mostly liberal ran states are moving here. If you don’t like it LEAVE. Pahrump is quiet and everyone knows everyone love it here. Schools I wasn’t to thrilled on so we sent our daughter to boarding school now she is 23 only child luckily schools are not a priority for us. But pahrump is lovely if you want a laid back life no malls no SAKS no Nordstrom’s no NEIMAN Marcus you are going to love pahrump!!!

You can obviously tell from Adele and Thomas' comments what stratum of society inhabits Pahrump. I'm surprised they don't call it Loserville.

So you suffer from panic disorder and then proceed to slam a lovely retirement community because of your mental disability. You're isolated but 99% of us retirees love it here.

So you suffer from panic disorder and regard a 5 mile drive to Walmart as arduous because you are begging for transportation. You then proceed to slam a lovely retirement community because of your distinct mental disability, thinking it will apply to everyone. You're isolated in Pahrump, but 99% of us retirees love it here.

WE MOVED HERE 4 MONTHS AGO IT WAS OK BUT NOT TOO HAPPY WITH THE REALTOR AFTER WE MOVED IN WE HAD TO HAVE THE FLOOR JACKED UP NOW THE FLOOR IS SEPERATING WITH THE CHEAP ROLL ON SELF STICK FLOORING HAD TO PAY SOMEONE TO CLEAN UP THE YARD IT WAS SO BAD. THE WALLS HAVE BIG BULGES IN IT FROM WHO KNOWS WHAT THE REALTOR NEVER TOLD US WHERE THE SEPTIC TANK IS AND WHEN IT WAS LAST EMPTIED. I UNDERSTAND WE HAD SOME WORK TO DO LIKE THE FRONT PORCH AND STEPS WHICH WE TOOK CARE OF. OUR MAIL BOX WAS LAYING ON THE GROUND WE HAD TO REDO THAT ALSO. WE HAVE A WELL WHICH WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT IT WAS NEVER EXPLAINED TO US. THE REALTOR HAD A LIST OF THINGS THAT NEEDED FIXING BUT NEVER GAVE US A COPY OF IT. ABOUT 4-5 MODULAR HOMES ON THIS STREET IS CRAP NO ONE TAKES CARE OF THEM ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE A DUMP YARD GOING DOWN THE STREET. I DONT LIKE WHATS GOING WITH THIS HOUSE AND EVERYTHING ELSE....

Toni, would love to meet and see if we have similar interests. Don’t worry about Thomas. I think he misunderstood some of your comments.
