Avoid this town if you can. Avoid the whole state if you can.
Beebe reportedly has the best schools in the state. What a crock. The teachers hear talk like gutter trash and have no clue how to teach. Of course there are a few teachers that are good but they are veryfew and far between. A llt of these teachers are "coaches" so having a parent teacher interview almost never happens because the schools favour athletics before academics. My 2 oldest graduated with kids that could not read at a 4th grade level but they were all state in football or basketball. When we moved here from Arizona we were looking forward to better schools. Oh hell no it was much worse here than in Tucson, AZ or Deming, NM. At least there the poor overall performance can be attributed to the non english speakers,here, well they do not really speak english either. They do have a really good Air Force JROTC program. The principal of one of the high schools is one of the local good ole boys and if you are not a long standing family or go to church with him he treats you like crap. The stuff that the kids here are taught in the 12th grade is taught in the 6,7, or 8th grades in real schools in states with a decent literacy rate.
Also there is a university here.the courses are very limited and to get a bachaelors in most subjects you have to transfer to another city.
For a city, more like town, with a university there is a lack of available housing and very few places to shop. There is reportedly a Wal-mart being built here which I will beleive when I am standing in it. If you want a mall it is 30 miles away.
There are virtually no jobs in this town. Most jobs are at least a 30 min drive away.
The cops here are still working on the good ole boy plan. So here it is ok to drive drunk and beat your wife, because some of the cops are cool with that. There is a new chief who is trying to change things, but until he cans everyone nothing will change.
Birds, ugh, do a Google search for Beebe Blackbirds. There are literally millions of these birds that fly over my house every day crapping everywhere, so for 4 months you do not wash your cars and always wear a hat.
Drivers here suck. The road test to get a license is literally a drive around the block. Cannot imagine why there are so many wrecks.
Yes it is cheap to live here but that is because there is nothing here.
Just say no to moving here. I am finally getting out of here in July .
